I know I have complained about this - and since it is a big part of our life now it will be a bigger deal - but homework is driving me crazy!
The first day of school, homework was a mess. Some days are better. Some days are worse.
If Sterling doesn't get enough sleep - forget it.
If Sterling is sick - forget it.
If Sterling is hyper - forget it.
And rarely is Sterling NOT hyper. I can't get him to sit through 5 minutes of homework without having to tell him to focus on his homework atleast 5 times. No joke.
It is so hard to see him struggle. He can't seem to write any sentences. He is really struggling with his spelling this year.
I wish I could wave a wand and have his issues cleared up so he could catch onto things easily.
We had his IEP last Friday. His regular teacher (Mr. Willis) said that he is practically perfect in class - he is quiet, he answers questions, he ask questions, and he seems to be able to stay on task (even if it means he isn't doing much, he isn't making any distractions). He hasn't had any problems. Now his Resource teacher (a female) has said that he gets distracted easily, distracts the other kids, won't stay on task. His reading comprehension is at a 4th grade level but his site words are at a 2nd grade level. He can do basic math - but it is harder for him to get other concepts.
Add all of that to his speech impediment and life is just grand!
I seriously can't wait until Christmas break!
