a baby on Sunday. You read correctly - I held a baby. And I don't do that. I get nervous holding other people's babies - afraid I'll drop them. And I didn't want to get baby hungry.
Imagine Tim's surprise on Sunday when he and Ster were sitting on the stand for the Primary Program and he sees me holding a baby. It was quite humorous actually - I saw him smile and lean over to Ster and tell him that mommy was holding a baby girl and then he grinned. It was fabulous!
I was sitting there listening to the program when the man in front of me got up with his baby girl because she was fussy and left his 3 year old son there. I helped the little boy open up his snack and kept smiling at him because he is just a cutie. A minute later, I look up and see him standing kinda funny with a funny grin on his face. I was a bit suspicious, but the grunt confirmed my idea.
Gross. Last week a little one had a dirty diaper and I smelled it for the rest of the meeting. Nasty!
I sat there for a minute wondering if I should hold the baby while the dad changes a bum or offer to change a bum. I may be a nervous nelly holding other people's babies, but I have a gag reflex like no other and I didn't want to puke all over a little boy (if his dad would even let me take him). I offered to hold the baby.
And I did good! I didn't drop her or anything! Of course, she started to get a little fussy and then I started to get a little nervous. So we ended up in the hallway.
But I held a baby and everything turned out fine and I didn't even get baby hungry! Maybe I can hold babies and not get hungry for one!

Can you tell
that we are a tad excited?
After our day-before-the-dig meeting, Tim pulled the truck in to the "garage". I think there will be room! I have to admit, I am a bit nervous that the truck won't fit in - mostly because of the height. I asked Tim if it would be better if we lowered the truck - you know, like some other cultures are known for doing. He didn't think it was funny. If all else fails, I can get a smaller car - the smaller the better for me (I think the Jeep is plenty big!).
We will have plenty of room in the 3rd car area - it will be 27 feet deep. I already offered to park in there so that our truck and jeep won't be too close but Tim already put the kabosh on that. That area is for his tools and working area. Oh well. It IS his garage!
And as our luck goes - they have the hole dug and it is expected to rain all week. Really? If I wasn't sure that we are supposed to be moving over there, I'd be wondering if we were making a mistake! No nibbles on the house. Delays (which are disappointing considering everything else happened so fast). And everyone keeps asking if we have sold our house yet. Really? I guess they haven't caught on that we aren't lucky in the sell-your-house-fast department!
Oh well.
A few more months. I think I can hold on!
We had also decided that we weren't going to take daily trips over to the house because it would make it drag on that much longer for us. But I couldn't resist going out the very next day to make sure they did start digging. They did. Lucky for them or I would have been a bit cranky!

LIfe is Grand!
I haven't posted for awhile because there really hasn't been much to post about.
It seems like we are at a stand still with our house. We haven't broken ground yet! Grrrrrr! I am so antsy for the house to be completed. I guess the longer it takes to build, the more money we can hopefully save up for things like a fence, RV pad, landscaping, new furniture. I'm overwelmed at the thought of how much we'll still have to put into the house to get it complete - and thinking of ways to make it easier on our pretty thin pocketbook. Who knows - we may not get a fence for a year or so and Duke will have to be in a dog run when we are gone. WHY CAN'T THEY START MY HOUSE? Don't they know I want it done NOW?!?!?!
We haven't had any movement on our house. The realtor finally called Tim back and said we need to lower the price. Really? I could have told her that. She is a nice lady, but is really hard to get a hold of. I think we'll keep her on for a couple more weeks and then go for sale by owner. It looks more and more like we'll be renting out this house instead of selling. Darn!
As for grandpa - Tim's daughter is due on June 5. She ended up in the emergency room last weekend with major cramping and nausea - turns out she had a major infection but was starting to feel better. Poor thing. She was pretty stressed out because her boyfriend of two months had told her it was a mistake to hook up with her - so their relationship is already on the rocks. She just can't seem to catch a break in the man department! They were taking this relationship slow. Don't think you can get much slower, though.
I guess that is about it for today's post. Hopefully I'll be able to post good news about our house later this week! Keep your fingers crossed =)
