About 5 months ago, I was called to be the Cub Committee Chair in our ward. Me. In scouts. Didn't they learn the first time? I only lasted 2 months. Why? I don't get along with kids! I go bananas when a bunch of boys get together and don't listen to you. So why on earth would I be called to this position? I guess I'm supposed to be learning something here - probably patience. But why couldn't I be called to be the newsletter person? I can type and I like it! So why not that calling?
I think I'm starting to like cub scouts. I don't have to do the weekly meetings - so I only have one night of torture with a bunch of boys. I'm finally catching on to what my responsibilities are. I don't like to ask people to do things - but I'll have to learn to ask for assistance from the other committee members. If I'm asked to do something I do it. In this position, I'm learning that I need to make sure people are actually doing what I ask them to - like maybe call a week before rather than the night before to find out it isn't done.
I think I may actually like it.
On another note, have you noticed I haven't mentioned anything about my weight loss for awhile. That is because I haven't been too successful in that area. Overall, I'm down about 19 pounds. Christmas was a killer for me - and then with Tim gone I was way stressed out and couldn't stop munching. But the scales have started the downward trend again. Not fast, but at least it isn't creeping up. Slow weight loss is better anyway, right?
When I was first called to the cub scouts, I had to buy a cub scout leader shirt. I had to buy a Large size so that most of the patches were already on. An Extra Large and I had to sew all of them on. No way was I going to sew them all on. Anyway, the Large was very, very snug in the gut area - so I had to tuck my shirt in because it wouldn't fit very well over my jeans. Now, although there isn't much extra room, I can wear my shirt over my pants! Maybe next month it'll be a bit looser.

Watch out!
If one more person asks me if I knew what my co-worker was doing, I'm going to deck them.
That doesn't say alot about my character if people think I'd sit by and allow afriend co-worker steal thousands and thousands of dollars. Yes, she was my friend. No, I didn't know. Yes, I would have told on her. No, I wouldn't have had any problem being a tattle tell.
I can't believe how many of my co-workers have asked me if I knew Heidi was stealing. The next person better be careful!

What on EARTH???
Oh my heck. What is going on in today's world? Does everyone think they are entitled to things that don't belong to them?
Since this fiasco at work, there have been 3 other similar instances in the State of Utah. Just since last Tuesday - just 8 days ago - the news have reported 4 people (make that 5 or 6 if more Timpview High people get in trouble) who are under investigation for misappropriation of funds. In 8 days. Really?

The Hunger Games
I finally read the Hunger Games. I couldn't put it down! My friend let me borrow the book on Friday and once I actually started to read it I couldn't put down. Now I can't wait to see the movie!

The excitement
has now been in the papers and in the news. I can only say that it is under investigation - that is what we have been told to say. So I can't really talk (or blog) about what is happening. But if you go to www.heraldextra.com and search for American Fork City, you should be able to find the embezzlement article. In fact, there are two articles - one mentions who it was and one does not.
It is not me.
While I can't talk about it with others, we have sure spent a lot of time at work discussing everything over and over. And when we get new information, our tongues just start a waggin'!
It is funny how fast information can spread - and how far it can go! A family member of said person told his co-workers all about it - from what started several years ago to what was happening this week. One of his co-workers was visiting her mother while the mom's visiting teachers were there - and someone brought up what was in the papers and that co-worker spilled her guts. One of the visiting teachers works in our building. Oh how she wanted to ask questions - but she just sat and listened to all that has been going on. Yes, she shared with us.
Another family member of said person wanted his bosses to hear about it from him and not the news - so he told one of his old bosses, who told his wife and sister-in-law and the sister-in-law rushed to our office to talk to one of the ladies at the front counter because they (the s-in-l and front counter lady) are best friends. More information is shared.
The information that gets around! Although I don't believe everything I hear (not just about this, but about everything people say), what has been shared by family members definitely answers some questions!
Has the healing started now that the situation is out in the open? Let me get back to you one that!

The excitement
I mentioned in the last post isn't a good excitement.
I've gotten over my hurt feelings. I was pretty pissed for a day but got over it and things are back to normal with us. I had a talk with my co-worker and it wasn't the person I thought it was who told - it was someone else altogether! And it was only because she wanted to do what I was helping out with, so she told them I didn't need to do it and to continue would make me stressed, overworked, and burned out. So not true. I'm a bit high strung - but that is what keeps me going at work. I think the more I have to do, the harder I work to get it done. But if I don't have a lot to do then I it harder to keep on task. Like now. I'm blogging instead of working.
While things are back to normal between me and my two coworkers, things are NOT back to normal at work. And it will be a very long time before things are normal. I want this whole thing over and done with. I want what happened to get out in the open so that we can start to heal - because there is a lot of hurt and anger here in this office. Disbelief that it would happen. Anger that innocent people were blamed (good thing no one believed that for a minute). Anger about all the lies. Hurt that our friend would do this.
There are so many emotions going on right now. And although I've probably got anyone who reads this curious about what is going on, I can't talk about it right now. Maybe tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow.

Hurt Feelings
Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I got my feelings hurt at work yesterday. And the hurt feelings quickly turned to anger. Something I quickly need to get over - but not sure how I'll get over it.
See, there has been some excitement at work this last week. And because of said excitement, there is extra work that needs to be done. So, like several others, I have volunteered to help out in any way I can. I was asked to come in to work 15 minutes early to get something done. I agreed to do this, knowing that I'd have to make sure I got up earlier and out the door. I did that for two days.
Let me back up a bit. Last Thursday, I had to take minutes at a City Council work session. I hate taking minutes. I know it is my job, but it is something I hate to do now - mostly because the meetings have a tendency to go on and on. Anyway, 3 hours later the meeting stops. I didn't have a chance to work on my minutes on Friday or Monday because of said excitement in the office. Tuesday, I got to work early and then I had an Excel training workshop to go to (I was hoping to learn new things - at least I learned a couple of shortcuts) and didn't work on my minutes. I was starting to feel a tiny bit of stress because I had a City Council meeting that night I had to go to. That meeting was just over two hours long. Wednesday, I got to work a bit early and I thought everything was fine. By lunchtime that wasn't so.
See, my co-worker kept commenting about me getting to work early and how could I do that with Sterling? I assured her that was no problem. She kept making a big deal about the extra hours that I was putting in this week and that I needed to make sure I either took off early or took an extra long lunch. Really? I'm a big girl and know how to keep track of my time and what to do when I work extra hours. She made several comments to me about extra time - it really started to annoy me. Especially when she starts to make comments in front of my supervisor about the extra hours this week. (When she did that, he looked at me and said that I know what to do with my time. Thank you - yes I do!)
After lunch, this co-worker asked if I thought it would be okay if she left early. I told her I had planned to work on minutes and not helping out front - but that I wasn't her supervisor and couldn't tell her yes or no. (my answer would have been "no" anyway). So she went upstairs to talk to her supervisor.
It just so happened that I had to ask her supervisor a question so I head upstairs to talk to her. And she tells me that my co-worker told her I was getting burned out and was afraid that me helping wasn't such a good idea. So, they figured out another solution to the problem I was helping them out with. Seriously? Burned out? For helping them for two days? THEN, we have to go talk to another person about another issue - and that lady makes comments about me being overworked and how she didn't want to burden me too much. When I offered to send a fax for the second lady, she tells me that she understands that I have a full plate right now and doesn't want to bother me. To take one minute and send a fax? Seriously?
First, I was hurt that they changed plans - I actually liked what I was helping them with. Then, I was upset that they think I'm overworked. Why wouldn't my co-worker just listen to me when I told her that everything was fine? And THEN I got pissed off. Who is she to tell people that I'm getting burned out? Who is she to tell people that I can't handle helping them do a job that was taking 30 minutes - a job that was asked of me and I gladly accepted. Who is she to tell people that I'm overworked? So, now I'm just plain pissed.
So guess how much fun work is for me? Not fun at all. Especially since I look out my office door and see the lady who upset me. I have really got to get in a good mood - and soon!
