to post any pictures right now. Between sealing the grout and my slip at work, my body is sore sore sore! And the air quality is messing with my system - I'm feeling crappy just like the air!
This weekend will be a full weekend for us. We closed on our home yesterday but can't move in until it funds and until all the little to-do's on our final walk thru are done. The to-do's are done, but we aren't sure on the funding. We had to assure the superintendent that we weren't going to move in until they give us the go ahead, but we did go in today and hang up most of the blinds and seal the grout. Tomorrow, we get to hang the last blind in the kitchen, maybe hang the verticle binds at the sliding door (I'm not a fan of verticle blinds AT. ALL. But, we need something so that will have to do for now), clean and seal the granite (not sure if they did that), and clean the wood flooring. After that we get to finish packing up our kitchen and towels and the last minute stuff. We are hoping to start moving in Monday afternoon with help from friends moving the furniture Tuesday evening. That is the plan right now. But, plans do change!
There are some things to change on our home. Already. I hate the color of the front door and the side door. Those will have to be changed as quickly as possible. Plus, I DO NOT like the stucco stuff at the bottom of the house (not sure what that is called) that covers the foundation - the color is terrible. What happened to gray? We will have to figure out how to paint that, too. And, last but not least - I love our wood floor - it is a beautiful color. When it is clean! They cleaned it before we did our walk through yesterday and did a piss poor job. I wiped up a section tonight and it looks ten times better - but I told Tim that if it has that filmy look a lot then we will be changing that out as soon as we get money (which probably won't be for several years).
So, the next time I blog I will be in my new home and will have pictures =)

My pride and joy
This, folks, is my pride and joy.
It is a convection gas range. I've been told I will absolutely love this.
I can't wait to use it!

Soon!
Finally the end is in sight! We have to be out of our house next Thursday and the tentative move in date is this Monday afternoon. As much as I love snow and rain - I'm hoping that the storm passes over us again!
Tim sent ANOTHER email to our sales consultant asking why the house keeps sitting there with nothing being done. He went on Saturday and the painters were doing the final touch ups - but there are still baseboards missing. Two of the toilets aren't hooked up yet. The appliances STILL are not insalled (I've been drooling of the boxes for three weeks now waiting for them to be installed). We don't think the foreman had been stopping by the house because he was unaware of the toilets. The final inspection has been set for Wednesday and if things go well (which they usually don't) then we may be able to close on Friday and move in Monday. Or Tuesday. That is the best case scenario. Good thing I just finished deep cleaning the kitchen and livingroom! Because I won't have time to do it after we move.
On a side note: we drove by yesterday to see if anyone was working on the house. I walked into the house and the cleaner was there vacuuming the cabinets. Her little girl was running around the house in her moon boots. I almost came unglued! It was so hard for me not to tell her to TAKE. OFF. YOUR. SHOES! I had to remind myself that we don't actually own the house yet so I can't be bossing a little girl around. At least she didn't have any food in her hands. I would have freaked out. I already told my hubby, son and niece that there will be NO food or drinks (other than water) in any carpeted area. My poopsie Duke will be thankful I treat him like a baby otherwise he'd be outside in this freezing weather!

We are getting closer!
So a week and a half ago we made it know to our builder that we were a bit anxious and that it seemed like nothing was getting done. That was on a Tuesday - and by that Sunday a lot of work was done. This last Tuesday, the flooring was in. Excitement!!!!
However, since then very little has been done. All they had to do was finish the drive approach, install the A/C, finish grading, a few baseboards, install the appliances and paint touchups. What has been done since Tuesday? the A/C has been installed. That is all - as of this morning. I am so frustrated. All it would take is one day of work and the house could be finished. They poured the drive approach to the house two lots over but didn't pour ours. FRUSTRATING!
Lets hope they finish by next Friday.

YYYYEEEESSSSS!
Our countertops are in!
I really don't like to post pictures that I am in. But I couldn't resist posting my happiness showing!
So last Tuesday I sent an email to our sales consultant and the project foreman and asked if they had an update on when our house would be finished. I explained that we have to be out on January 31 so I was hoping our home would be done by then. I love our sales consultant - but his answer of completion dates not being guaranteed blah blah blah check your contract blah blah blah was annoying. I wasn't in a good mood that day anyway cuz I didn't feel good. It didn't help when we saw the other house being at the same stage. That night, our sales consultant called Tim and they talked for 30 minutes and things were smoothed over. But Tony was very surprised when Tim told him about the spec house.
Well, since Tuesday night, all of the light fixtures have been installed, our fireplace mantel has been installed, the bathroom cabinets/tops have been installed, all the door hardware has been installed and now our kitchen countertops are in!
I can see progess and it makes me OH. SO. HAPPY!
We decided that we were going to start going to our new ward - so I had my boss (who just happens to be a bishop) find our new ward information in December. The internet said that they started at 11 a.m. - so with the new year we assumed it would begin at 1 p.m. Wrong! 9 a.m. So we showed up at 12:30 just to find we completely missed church. We could have gone to the singles ward that always starts at 1 p.m. - but opted not to =) I guess we'll get to church next week!

I finally got some pictures to load! Can you see why we are excited now? Nice big kitchen! And, in the third picture down - that will be my "pen station". I will have three drawers of pens/pencils and one drawer of paper. Maybe three and a half drawers of pens/pencils and half a drawer of paper. We'll have to see how many pens fit in the drawers =)
argggg
I'm really frustrated right now.
One, I think I'm getting Tim's cold. Lovely.
Two, there has been very little progress on our house. Now that we have to be out by January 31, I'm starting to really really stress about getting into our new home. Since Christmas, the only things that have taken place in our home have been that it has been painted, the cabinets are in, and the deck has been put on. Nothing else. Not even paint touch ups. I understand that they are busy - but it really gets me upset with the spec home across the street (which was started 4 weeks after ours) is at the same stage as our house. Their cabinets are already in! What?!? I am really frustrated - especially since our home will be occupied as soon as it is done and the spec home will sit there until it is purchased. I'm not pleased.
On the bright side, in checking out who was arrested recently I have found that my neighbor was arrested twice in the last 5 weeks - both for alcohol restricted driving. About time he gets caught! I know it is naughty for me to get a giggle out of seeing him on the arrested site. But I never said I was nice.
And why can't I post any pictures? Do I have to delete some from earlier in the blog? Any ideas?

My cabinets!!!!
Oh, I am so excited! My cabinets are in! And they look so beautiful =) Tim went over this morning and then I couldn't wait so I went on my lunch break. I don't want to get my hopes up and think that maybe things are moving along now - because I don't want to be disappointed if the move in date gets moved back. We are renting back this house until January 31. I'd rather not be cleaning at 11 p.m.!
My plan had been to post some pictures - but for some odd reason it won't let me! How rude!
I guess I'll just have to let you know that my kitchen will be cleaner than it has ever been by the time we move out. I am doing a deep clean right now - the tops of the cabinets are getting scrubbed and all that gooey icky stuff is coming off. (I'm not much of a duster in out of reach places). Everything is going to be scrubbed! I am doing a deep clean now as we pack and then when everything is moved out we don't have to spend as much time cleaning.
Another oddity: I am actually in the mood to keep things clean! Even when we listed the house I had to force myself to make sure I did the dishes every single night. I'm not one who had to have a sparkling clean house. Until now. It drives me crazy to have dirty dishes in the sink. To have blankets on the couch in the family room. To have papers on the counter. I can't stand to have anything on the kitchen counter or to have floors in need of vacuuming. And sweeping? Something I detested doing is something I have to do often, now. Wierd. My new home may actually stay clean!
When I can get pictures to post, I'll update you on my beautiful cabinets! (Can you tell I just love my kitchen?)
